Rioting labourers will be referred to courts
By a staff reporter

9 May 2006

DUBAI — Labourers who riot and destroy public or private properties in any emirate of the UAE will be transferred to the Prosecution and the Courts.

This was decided during a meeting held between the Ministry of Labour, represented by the Minister Dr Ali Abdullah Al Kaabi, and a Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department official.

A joint committee between the two authorities decided on the deportation of such workers and giving the right to the affected employer to replace the deported workers without paying the labour ministry’s fees.

The committee — which was assigned to study obstacles in the labour market — decided to conduct a study on preparing minimum salaries of labourers for submission to the authorities concerned.
